I've pretty much been hot rodding around care free for 5000 miles on the 05 FJR. Then one hot sticky day and my typical sport bike super stop, the front end popped. Every time I've stopped aggressively since, it's done the same thing. Took it to the dealer and got the "You should of had us do the 4000 mile service" song and dance. Well they checked the head bearing as I requested and according to them it was right on. I also asked if they had test rode to bike to confirm that the problem was fixed. They said yes. Well, back on the road and 2 stop lights later the pop/clunk was still very evident. So back to the dealer and 5 days later they said that the head bearing was out of adjustment. With everything supposidly OK, I rode home. The next morning on the way to work (27 miles in morning rushour) the handle bars buzz'd so bad that both hands went numb instead of just the right. In the first 5K miles, this bike was as nice as a Cadillac at 80mph was. Now it's as buzzy as the first FZR 600 I had in 1991. After reading through this web site and discovering that other owners have had the same problem, I went up 5 clicks on the dampening. The bike seemed to be healed for a day or so. During my 150-mile ride yesterday, the couple sharp bumps I encountered, managed to bring my buzzy bars back, but no clunking. So is it possible that they may have tightened the head bearing too much to allow the engine vibe to come through the bars?
