I finished up installing the Speigler rotors and Wilbers fork springs this morning on my '03.I also put on a new Avon front tire.
I used Bel Ray 7 wt oil.I previously had '04 springs in my '03.
My suspension/brakes are now Wilbers on both ends (643 rear) and Speigler stainless lines, rotors with Ti fasteners(front only) and SBK pads. I also have a Superbrace and Avons on both ends.
The sag is set at 1 1/2 inches at each end and rear comp/rebound settings are as Klaus provided.Front is set at 14 out on both comp and rebound. I weigh 180 ready to ride and have the 95 rear spring.
This is a new bike. The original dive, wallowing and harshness are all gone. I can't tell you how much better the bike is on uneven pavement and how much more confidence inspiring it is.The wheels simply follow the road contours with no harshness at all.It is much more comfortable because of the elimination of the harshness that came from pumping preload and compression to try to make the original suspension work.It is hard to imagine how it could be improved.
The brakes are RIGHT NOW almost like a real sport bike. No discernable line flex and much improved bight provided by the scalloped rotors. With almost no dive even when hammering the brakes.
The rotors look GREAT,too.
Going on a 2500 mile tour of the Canadian Rockies in two weeks. Intend to smile the entire way.
