I have 3 pairs, and each has their advantages

1: Olympia. These are leather, thinsulite and Gore-tex and they are absolutely waterproof. They are good to the 30's, but the low 30's are only for short rides.

2: Gerbing Electrics. These are for the COLD days. They are not as thick as the Olympias, and not waterproof--but even when wet your hands stay warm. I had them make them warmer (Gerbing can do that).

3: First Gear. Thinsulite and a Gore-tex clone. These are much lighter and thinner than the Olympias, good for 40's riding. For colder weather, heated grips or Hippo Hands are probably in order. Just got these because they are thinner. The left index finger has a nifty built-in squeegee for quick-cleaning your shield.

I checked out my wraparound grip heaters on the FZ1 yesterday--they are inexpensive and inconsistent. How you wrap them matters. My left hand was much warmer than the right. It was in the 40's and the with the heaters and the First Gears I was fine.
