You cannot beat a quality tent from REI. You need to research tents specifically made for backpacking.
I have a tent that was expensive 20 years ago and is still holding up well ( Sierra Designs ). Survived some " gale force " winds... still standing.
You need a fly for both rain and the insulating factor.
There are three season and four season tents but I don't think youll be riding in the snow ... but you never know!!
You cannot beat a dome tent for ease of set-up and break down.
Just make sure whatever tent you buy has a " bathtub" floor. You do not want seams at the ground level where water can enter.
If you plan to camp a lot get a quality tent.
