I know that this is an old post, but the problem is still going around. I own an '02 (from new) over past year it has had the odd starting problem. After a run, if I wanted to restart it immediately after switching off it often didn't want to know. Remedy was to leave it and if that didn't settle it that as listed above the answer was to crank it and keep going till it fired. This until now, although worrying has always worked. Now it will not crank at all. Symptoms are ignition & instrument lights are on but fuel pump doesn't prime. No error code comes up on the bezel and there are no obvious faults (dirty connectors/ fuses etc) at the lean switch or the fuel pump relay (although the female nylon spade connector block to the relay unit shows signs of a small melt on one corner??). As I said cleaned them up and tried to crank it (more in hope than anything else), as before no fuel pump uplift then after a few turns it stopped cranking completely; no ignition or instrument lights, no main headlamps even just side lights; (as if the kill switch was on; which it isn't) except that the green ignition light is on. Battery is a new one, that was my first IA and no difference. Any clues guys before I hand it over together with my wallet to to a dealer?
