One of my all time favorite rides, so I'm liking the idea of introducing my new Feejer to that route. I've typically done it going the other direction and on my Blackbird (or in olden days -- '70s and '80s -- on my '78 Suzuki GS1000EC). I lived in Tahoe City for a long time and also in the Auburn area, which 'splains my familiarity.

My GF will be in NY all next week and that weekend, and I may be doing another ride in the Gardnerville area that day. But if not, I may be game for this one. I can get down to Auburn the night before and stay at my mom's house and then meet up with you in Auburn in the am. I should go down to see my mom, anyway.

So, -- when and where? May I suggest one of two Starbucks? Easiest to find is at Hwy 49 and Bell Rd next to Togos in the K mart shopping center (on your right just before the signal at Bell Rd. if you're heading toward Grass Valley). Honorable mention to the one in the Albertson's parking lot on Elm Ave. Between Hwy 40 and the Elm Ave exit off I-80. There's a third -- it's one lot removed from being adjacent to the Chevron Station at the Forest Hill exit off 80.

I can either go back to South Shore from Truckee or loop back to Auburn to my Mom's and/or visit friends, or proceed through to Placerville and back up to South Lake from there (Ice House anyone?). BTW, I can show you the old Hwy 40 back road continuation from Alta off 80 down to Auburn on Placer Hills Road, etc. -- few but locals or ex locals know this part and it beats hell out of that damn slab. There's a couple better ways to Nevada City from Auburn than 49, too.

BTW, for you who know the area: today, I discovered that the old Morman Emigrant trail from Sly Park Rd. in Pollock Pines over to Hwy 88 was still closed!!! Rode down to Cameron Park on 50 this afternoon and thought I'd take that way back to the Lake, only to find, about 10 miles out, that the damn road is still closed due to snow. It's mid June, ferchrissakes!!!

As for this weekend, Warchild's done organized a Blackbird convention in Reno I just found out about.
