Alright, let`s just get serious for a moment. In view of the self destructing vave guides issue and Yamaha`s inept handling (in a public relations sense), I think it`s time to think outside the box...not to mention, the owner`s manual.Lets face it, in view of the prodigious heat that comes along with all the power that we love so much...the oil we pick is probobly worth discussing here. As far as I`m concerned, Castrol Syntec 5W40 is called for here! I use this oil for my Turbo-Charged Diesel and I gotta say, it works just fine in my FJR. This stuff is wet clutch compatible and rated for normally aspirated gasoline too.Given its full synthetic nature, this is an oil that sticks longer to the engine internals (high film strenght) during down time. Also read:more lubrication at cold start ups! This is also an oil that flows faster during cold starts and protects at higher temps. It is known that synthetics disperse heat better, neverr mind, last longer between oil changes. It`s reasonably priced ...same as the Yammi 20w40 oil last time I looked...which oil would you buy?????8)
