Posts: 681 Apr 28 12 3:10 PM Hooligan	Tags : None I've been wanting to go on a trip by myself and just camp with the bike. Rideing all day and pulling into a camp ground, just sounds like an expierience I'd like to do before I get too old. Anyone here do this and can you give me any hints on what kind of tent (and other gear) I should take along ? If I do this, I'd be heading up the Blue Ridge Parkway probably in late May, Early June. Thanks

Posts: 71 Jul 29 12 1:22 PM Squid	ok! so how did the camping experience go? You picked a great ride. hope it went well. I will probabally do the blue ridge in sept/oct time frame. but NO CAMPING. The army gave me enough time in tents.

Posts: 681 Jul 29 12 4:29 PM Hooligan	Actually-- the camping trip didn't get off the ground. The weather down in Bradenton Florida has been really weird this year. Not a drop of rain for months, then 10 inches in two weeks, then nothing for another month, then another 12 inches in two weeks. I've got a bunch of small peach trees, avocado trees, and persimmon trees in the ground and I've got to keep them wet so they don't die of thirst. At the same time the weather up around Maggie Vally ( I've got a good friend that recently moved there) has been unusually wet this year, raining every day and sometimes 2 and 3 times a day. Farther north at Stone Mountain in NC it has been almost as bad. I noticed just today that the weather for this week looks like it has finally dried out some up that way. With any luck, the wife and I will load up the truck, put the bike in the trailer and head up next week. So I guess the camping trip on the bike will have to wait for another year, hopefully a dryer one.
