air induction removal--OH YEAH |
Lead | ||
|
Not much to do an a rainy day so I removed the air induction sys. on my 09 then syncd the throttle boddies. I wasn't expecting a big change as the bike
ran very smooth to begin with. No big change at idle or at crusing speed but a HUGE improvement in the transition from on/off throttle. Also, the cold start up
enrichment circuit is working much better. The engines used to miss and sputter (resulting in that nasty tranny rattle) when first started with no increased
RPM but now revs to 1500 rpm with no, or very little, missing then smooths out to 1100 rpm when warm. It was well worth the time (3 hours), sweat (I live in
Florida so had to rehydrate myself with pleanty of Millers) and cussing and swearing (dropped a little rubber cap into the spigetti but my swearing skills
made it expose itself and I got the sucker with a pair of long tweezers). Anyway---I highly recomend the procedure.

Your right Twowheeler, I didn't have a clue. I wasn't trying to teach anybody anything (available elsewhere) I was just stateing that it was worth
doing. I've put a couple thousand miles on the bike since the removal and BOY, does my bike shift smoooooooothly.

Well---- I hate to dissapoint anyone but I don't have a clue how to post pictures and don't really have any desire to learn. Besides, I'm not going
to lift the fuel tank-remove the heat shield-then remove the frame brace just to take a few pictures after the fact. You can find the "how to do"
elseware with lots of pictures and commentary. Its basicly just removeing the rubber air hoses (5 ) and control box that they are all hooked up to, then
capping off the vent pipes ( 5 ) with rubber caps. Hay--- if you can take a model 6000 NCR cash register apart, then put it back together and have it actually
work properly--- you can do this!
