Windshield scratches

Has anyone got any magic way to buff scratches out of windshields? My 2004 has some minor scratches that I'd love to buff out rather than fork out the huge bucks for a new windshield.

axle torque

Help !! I'm tired of looking! Would some nice person ( someone that I haven't pissed off over the years ) give me the front and rear axle torque values for a 09 FJR? There has to be someone! I've got 90 ft.lbs. for the rear and 52 ft. lbs. for the front but I think that they changed those for the newer models. someone? anyone? hello??? anyone there?

Another tire question

My 05 has approx. 7500 miles on the tires. Front looking good, but the rear is kind of funky. Why are some of the wear bars even with the tread and others are not. All wear bars looked at are dead center and the same part of the tread design. These are the original bridgestones. What is going on.

Bike Dies

I have an '03 that dies at intermittent times. It dies while I'm rolling and it doesn't matter what gear I am in. I thumb the starter button with no luck but since I am rolling I can usually bump start it and it will be fine. My clock is fine and don't have to be reset and the bike usually behaves itself after this happens. Any suggestions?

Front end wobble at certain speed

I have an '08 FJR and from new it has has misbehaved around 45 mph. Here is the symptom: riding at 45 mph, either coasting or with throttle lock on, remove your hands from both handlebars. The handlebars begin to shake violently - you will want to grasp them firmly right away. This symptom gradually goes away as you increase or decrease speed. It doesn't happen at all at 30 or 60 mph. air induction removal--OH YEAH

Not much to do an a rainy day so I removed the air induction sys. on my 09 then syncd the throttle boddies. I wasn't expecting a big change as the bike ran very smooth to begin with. No big change at idle or at crusing speed but a HUGE improvement in the transition from on/off throttle. Also, the cold start up enrichment circuit is working much better. The engines used to miss and sputter (resulting in that nasty tranny rattle) when first started with no increased RPM but now revs to...

Hi all,picked up a 05 FJR yesterday that needs a fairing due to an encounter with a deer,it currently has a very small fairing off a Kawasaki (Yamasaki?) I did get the windshield drive motor,which helps I guess. Also will be looking for saddlebags and a trunk.Good thing is I can ride it while I'm scrounging parts,and Wow what a ride it is! front end clunking

I'm getting a clunking when I squeeze the brakes and work the front end up and down. Is this normal or a problem? The bike is a new 09 with about 2500 miles on it and its been doing it since day one. Thank you. I'd like to have an idea what it might be before I call the dealer tomorrow.

Steering head bearings

I noticed notchiness in the movement of my handlebars when I was lubing and torquing the steering head bearings. I decided to replace the old balls and races with tapered roller bearings. Has anyone done this job before?

Can someone help !!!

I own 2006 model of YAMAHA FJR 1300 that is purchase in USA.

I am searching fore info to change on the display device from mile and F° to meter and C°

You can see it on the tach, as it drops a few hundred RPM, then picks the revs back up again.
It seems intertmittent, as in it happens irregularly, and maybe only every minute or so?

Any ideas??
Could this be TPS related?

PS: I read a lot of reviews before I got my FJR, comparing the FJR to the BMW, the ST, etc. My last ride...

Adding small turn lights in headlights?

A few years back someone posted a mod for adding the European style marker lights to the upper corners of both headlight housings. He drilled out the existing spots and inserted push-in Yamaha wedge light sockets from another Yamaha model. I added them to my '05 FJR and they look great. Now I'd like to also add them to another bike. Does anyone remember this post? I need the part number for those dang sockets! Thanks.

How do I remove the stock bolts to install the Handle bar risers?

I ordered a set of Handle bar Risers form Twistedthrottle dot com for '08 FJR and they came with no instructions. There are two longer bolts that come with the risers to replace the stock ones. However, the main stock bolt appears to be attached to a plate and I can't see how to remove them in order to use the longer bolts for the risers. Any suggestions? Thanks!!

I did find some instructions on-line, but would love it if anyone could convert them into english for me....

electronic cruise control

I've just completed installing a "Rostra" brand electronic cruise control on my '05 FJR. Installation was not to difficult, but now I need to dial it in using the DIP switches. Has anyone out there already done the same before I just go at it trial and error. Joe at Brandon Distruibting did not have specific settings. Any help would be appreciated!
